Jessica E. Gosnell

Dr. Jessica Gosnell is a surgeon who specializes in treating endocrine glands, particularly the thyroid and parathyroid. In her research, she studies new treatments for thyroid cancer and is involved in several clinical trials.

She earned a medical degree at the University of Washington in Seattle and completed a residency in general surgery at UCSF, where she received the Hunicutt Resident Award for Excellence in Teaching for two years. She also received a Gastrointestinal Research Training Grant from the National Institutes of Health as a research fellow at San Francisco General Hospital and completed a fellowship in endocrine surgery at the University of Sydney in Australia. Gosnell is an associate professor of surgery at UCSF.

    Dr. Gosnell has been amazing throughout this whole journey. She did a wonderful job during our Initial consult explaining everything about the procedure. Of course she did a great job with surgery. My incision Is barely visible and I feel great. The follow up visits have been easy to schedule and very thorough.

    Dr. Gosnell is one of these rare gem finds when it comes to an outstanding physician. Her tremendous caring attitude and depth of knowledge Isn't something you find everyday In a physician. She eludes confidence and I know my husband Is In the best care ever with Dr.Gosnell In his court! Can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Gosnell!     All doctors I have been in contact with at UCSF over the years have been far superior to any of the other networks I have used previously i.e. Kaiser Highland Washington Health and St. Rose Hospitals.

    Wait time until someone came online was longer than anticipated. Wish I was informed beforehand of delay. Actual treatment and care during appointment was OUTSTANDING as always with UCSF.

    Dr. Gosnell and the entire team in the Endocrinology Dept. Are SUPERIOR in their knowledge care and services. The nursing department at Mt. Zion was also outstanding. My stay there was made very easy by the care that I was given.

    After waiting an hour the doctor informed me I'd need two additional procedures before they would consider the surgery I'd been referred for (I would have appreciated if that had been communicated when I was referred/initially contacted for scheduling). Obviously they'd had an emergency and were behind schedule but their manner was curt. When I became overwhelmed and disappointed I began to cry and the doctor didn't acknowledge my feelings ask questions or offer any expectations to ease my concerns but did chide me that It wasn't reasonable to be upset with her. I left feeling like she didn't have time for me and my symptoms and concerns didn't matter. If after my additional tests I am authorized for surgery I'm not sure I'll be comfortable with her preforming it.
