Jennifer Perkins

Oral and maxillofacial surgeon

Dr. Jennifer Perkins is an oral and maxillofacial (jaw and face) surgeon who cares for patients with disorders involving their teeth, jaws or nearby tissues. She also performs dental implant surgery and bone grafts.

Perkins earned her doctor of dental surgery degree at the University of California, Los Angeles and her medical degree at the University of California, Davis. She completed her residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at UCSF.

Perkins directs predoctoral dental education in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the UCSF School of Dentistry. At the UCSF Kanbar Center for Simulation and Clinical Skills, she runs several educational programs centered on simulation training and standardized patient evaluation for dental school students; she also gives formal lectures, teaches small groups and provides hands-on clinical instruction in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Having a strong interest in curriculum development, Perkins serves on the UCSF School of Dentistry's curriculum steering committee. In 2015, through the UCSF Teaching Scholars Program, she pursued advanced training to augment her teaching skills and to learn about utilizing educational theory and scholarship as a basis for curricular change.
