Thoracic medical oncologist
Amateur cook and boot camp enthusiast
Dr. Trever Bivona is a medical oncologist who cares for patients with lung cancer. He is also a physician scientist, studying lung cancer with the goal of translating findings into new therapies.
Bivona directs a research laboratory focused on understanding cancer growth at the molecular level. His patients motivate him to develop treatments that will lengthen and improve the quality of their lives.
Bivona earned his doctorate in cell and molecular biology from New York University School of Medicine, where he also earned his medical degree. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and a fellowship in medical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
A native of the Northeast, Bivona never imagined living in San Francisco until he met his wife, a UCSF attorney. The two now live happily in the city, where many of their closest friends are UCSF faculty members and their families.
