Dr. Daniel Pound is a primary care doctor who specializes in caring for seniors. His expertise focuses particularly on preventive medicine and osteoporosis. He has a special interest in understanding and teaching others how to care for patients in the final years of life.

Pound earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and then completed his residency in family medicine at Huntsville Hospital, an affiliate of the University of Alabama – Birmingham.

An enthusiastic educator, Pound feels fortunate to teach medical students about geriatric care through direct encounters with patients, helping equip future doctors to care for the aging population. He is passionate about instilling respect for older adults and their caregivers in his students.

Pound is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In his free time, he enjoys playing classical music, and occasionally plays tango or polka music as well.

    There was no explanation of the procedure or its purpose. The RN probably thinks the doctor has explained it etc. It wouldn't hurt for the RN to say 1) how are you today? (to see if there's anxiety in the client's mind they they can address) and 2) do you know the purpose of this injection (which could be explained in less than 30 seconds). My guess is their are so harried that they don't feel they have time for talk.

    This involved somewhat more demanding and complicated medical issues and they were resolved very effectively. Dr. Pound was patient and very precise as he always Is.

    We would recommend our provider if we were not suspicious that he is already notably over-booked and any enlargement of his practice would be at the detriment of existing patients. UCSF management should be training residents better so that more-experienced clinicians are not so much in demand.

    Dr. Pound was exceptionally patient and very thorough. Very prepared. I felt I was in great hands. I had my adult daughter with me and she was very Impressed I had the right doctor for my needs.
