Dr. Emmanuelle L. Waubant is a neurologist who specializes in treating patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). She serves as director of the UCSF Regional Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Center.

Waubant's research focuses on new treatments for MS. She also studies environmental and genetic risk factors, including in children with the disease.

A native of France, Waubant earned her medical degree at the Lille University School of Medicine and completed a residency in neurology at Toulouse University Hospital, where she was chief resident as well as junior faculty for two years. She completed fellowships in neuroimmunology and clinical neuroimmunology at UCSF and then returned to her native country to head a clinical research center at the Pitié-Salpêtrière University Hospital in Paris. She joined the UCSF Multiple Sclerosis Center in 2001.

Waubant serves on the clinical care committee of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's local chapter and on the translational research review committee for the society's national office. She chairs the clinical trial task force and serves on the steering committee of the International Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Study Group.

A prominent contributor to scientific journals in her field, Waubant is one of two chief editors of Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders, and she is MS section editor for Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology.

    I felt like she was rushed this visit. A few assumptions were made and a quick recommendation of an additional medication to take was ordered. After further research I decided not to take the additional medicine and try other ideas / research.

    Dr. Waubant is very good at addressing the issues at the last visit taking the needed action like referring and prescribing and making a plan for me to follow.

    Dr. Waubant's has been my neurologist for over 20 years. She has always given me knowledgeable thoughtful practical care. She has treated me in healthy times and when MS was really bad and disabling. I am grateful to be one of her patients.

    If you had words that go beyond Very Good I would give Dr. Waubant just that. She is incredibly intelligent but able to explain in detail in terms I can understand. She is the very best physician I have ever had. You all are lucky to have her.

    I know we haven't found what is actually wrong with me yet Dr very thorough with tests but order more test and see you in 4-5 weeks while I'm in pain. A little frustrating.

    Dr. Waubant is the single best neurologist I have ever had. She is not only a fantastic physician at every level ranging from patient care to the conducting of research studies. I have often wondered however why she is never at the meetings you all sponsor on MS and COVID. I think she would be an incredible speaker for you all to invite and she very much needs to be included if she isn't already.
