Dr. Daniel Thuillier is an orthopedic surgeon who cares for patients with foot and ankle conditions. He places high value on the doctor-patient relationship and is dedicated to providing innovative, individualized care in and out of the operating room.

Thuillier earned his medical degree and completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at UCSF. He completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Harborview Medical Center, part of the University of Washington health care system.

In research, Thuillier's interests include ankle instability, post-traumatic ankle arthritis and ankle replacement surgery. During his training, he studied the biomechanics of cartilage. He is highly involved in teaching medical students and residents.

Thuillier is a Bay Area native, born in San Francisco and raised in Oakland. He is currently a team physician for the Oakland Roots.

    I was impressed with the entire UCSF operation. Everything ran smoothly---Dr. Thuillier actually saw me 10 minutes BEFORE my scheduled appointment time A first for me...and he indicated ZERO sense of being rushed or in a hurry to move on to others. You wanted new xrays---and that whole thing was very quick and easy.

    Although he talk to me for 25 minutes I felt he was very removed with lack of empathy. His exam was minimal for a situation that I have had for 20 years that has caused me quite a bit of distress. His visit notes were incorrect stating that I had no scars when I did etc.

    No one wants to have a broken foot and two subsequent surgeries. But if you have to Dr. Dan Thuillier is your man. After 1.5 years my foot is almost 100% and I've been released from care! I'm so happy to be at this stage but will miss seeing Dr. Dan. Orthopedic surgeons have a reputation for being arrogant and egotistical. Dr. Thuillier could not be more the opposite. He is friendly and funny while delivering the highest quality of care.

    The system is broken in many ways. Often a statement of risks and alternatives is added as boiler plate to emails even when they weren't discussed. I understand this is a widespread if not standard practice to CYA and doesn't necessarily reflect on the provider but it is unnecessary and ineffective bureaucracy and does not Inspire patient confidence

    Dr thuillier was wonderful from the start..I explained what has been going on and my pain threshold he asked questions we discussed my c-ray he examined my Achilles and we came up with a plan..

    Dr. Thuillier is deeply concerned about my pain and conditions and does whatever he can to relieve to the pain. I am a unique case so it is not easy. He makes sure that the proper method and meds are used in conjunction with my illnesses and current meds. He is a very kind compassionate intelligent physician.

    Dr. Thuillier impressed me with his professionalism competence and listening/explaining skills.     I had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Thuillier. He gave me a referral that I did not think Orr had been told was not available to the Stemcell clinic which made this the best visit I've ever had. Very grateful that they were able to fit me in so that I did not have to drive a second time two hours coming and going I'm so pleased that they figured out a way to do it thank you so much.

    My ultimate opinion about this provider will depend on follow-up issues. So far so good but this was just the first appointment and we will see if the treatment recommendations end up helping as well as how well he works with other specialists he has referred me to for the follow-up.
